Exploring the streets of Anchorage is almost like being in any other city. The familiar box store names litter the busy streets and tall buildings surround you. But there is a hint of something wilder in the air...

Surf Sisters Hang Ten in Tofino
Surf Sisters Hang Ten in Tofino
by Robin Rowley
OK, I’ll admit it - these days I prefer satin sheets to a sleeping bag, and a pedicure to a bungee jump.
Oh, well, alright then -- if truth be told, I always did prefer them (and to my mind you are a fool if you don’t)... but what I mean to say is - I’m getting worse.
Yes, it’s sad, but I seem to have reached an age when my idea of "adventure" is renting a movie I’ve never seen and ordering Thai takeout from down the block, (actually very daring, considering my stomach and spices’ tumultuous relationship).

bathroom tofino Where To Stay : There are famous lodges in Tofino but our favorite - and better value - is the Long Beach Lodge. Most hotels don't make you feel at home - but this hotel's Great Room is like the home you always wanted. A roaring fire, comfy sofas, and the sights and sounds of the Pacific outside the window - it's enough to make you wish it was raining so you could stay in and read a great book!
Play Outside: All of the beaches surrounding Tofino are beautiful. Long Beach is the most well-known, but there are other (better) beaches.
